Our specialism

Nowhere to put the outdoor unit? That's the job we want.

In a Manhattan apartment or a Brooklyn brownstone there is often no yard, no roof access and no wall you are allowed to drill. Most contractors say no. Designing around that constraint is what we do — here are two we finished.

A Fujitsu condenser mounted into a window frame and boxed in from inside, with the coil left exposed to outside air
Englewood, NJ · Fujitsu 15RLQ

The condenser lives in the window

System installed where outdoor space is limited or unavailable — a solution for many apartment buildings in NYC. The Fujitsu 15RLQ condenser is securely attached to the window frame and boxed from inside, yet the exposed coil allows free air circulation from outside.

No duct, and no hole drilled through the outside walls — which means a clean installation and, usually, a board that says yes.

We built the plant room inside the flat

Photographed above: a rooftop VRV bank on a different New York City job.

Custom air conditioning installed in an apartment building in NYC. The condensing unit was custom-installed inside the apartment due to limited outdoor space. We created a small mechanical room inside the apartment to install the Daikin VRV III-S condensing unit.

When there is no outside, the outside comes in. VRV lets one condenser feed a whole floor of concealed indoor units.

Why ductless and VRF

No duct, no dust, no wasted energy

Their words, and the numbers behind them.

40%

Energy lost in ductwork

Going ductless means you avoid duct installation and bypass the energy losses of up to 40% found in typical forced-air systems.

−13 ºF

Still heating

Exceptional heating performance down to −13 ºF: 100% capacity at 5 ºF and 75% at −13 ºF.

⅓ less

Inverter running cost

Smart inverter technology reduces energy consumption by about a third compared with a traditional air conditioner — and you don't pay to condition unoccupied rooms.

54 zones

On one system

A Daikin VRV III will run up to 54 indoor fan coils from a single system; Mitsubishi City Multi can be configured for up to 50 zones.
